How to create an advertising video in Morocco

An advertising video is not just a short film. It is a film that has to trigger something in someone who never asked to see it, often in under ten seconds and often with no sound.

That constraint changes everything: the writing, the framing, the edit, down to the choice of what you shoot. Here are the real steps, and what gets decided at each one.

The steps

1. Set the objective and where it will run

A TV spot, an Instagram video, a YouTube pre-roll and an in-store screen are not built the same way. This is the first decision, not the last.

2. Write the hook before the script

The first two or three seconds decide whether the rest gets watched. They are written first, and they are shot on purpose.

3. Script and shot list

An advertising script fits in a few lines, but the shot list — which frame, how long, which transition — is what makes the shoot achievable in a single day.

4. The shoot

Crew, lighting, sound, locations, permits, product or extras. For a short format everything rides on preparation: there is little room to fix things in the edit.

5. Edit and finishing

Editing, pacing, motion design, sound design, mixing, colour grading. This is where the 16:9, the vertical, the square and the muted subtitled versions are born.

6. Versions and rights

Usage period, territories, media, music, image rights of the people filmed. A campaign that restarts six months later with no rights planned costs twice.

What changes compared to a corporate film

Attention span

The viewer of a corporate film chose to watch. The viewer of an ad is interrupted. You do not owe them the same thing.

Sound is not a given

On social media, a large share of views happen without sound. The message has to land through the image — decided in the framing, not in the subtitles.

Vertical is the default format

A vertical does not crop cleanly out of a horizontal frame: the essentials sit on the sides and disappear. If it is planned, it is shot that way.

Repetition is an asset

An ad gets watched again. Several variations from the same shoot beat a single film played on a loop.

Do it yourself or have it produced

What free tools do well

Assembling existing shots, adding text and royalty-free music, exporting formats. For a simple announcement, a stock of already-shot footage and a careful edit can be enough.

What they do not do

They do not shoot. They do not direct an actor, light a product, negotiate a location or clear the rights to the music you have just used.

The real cost of free

A stock library everyone else uses, music whose licence does not cover advertising, and a video that looks like your competitor's. The budget saved is paid back in indifference.

The middle ground exists

A tight shoot — one location, one day, a light setup — with a professional edit and several variations is often the best ratio between what it costs and what it produces.

Frequently asked questions

How do you create an advertising video?

In six steps: set the objective and the channel it will run on, write the hook for the first seconds, build the shot list frame by frame, shoot, edit and finish, then produce the versions and clear the rights. Order matters: the distribution channel is decided before the writing, because it determines the format, the length and the way you film.

Can you create an advertising video for free?

You can edit for free, not produce for free. Online tools assemble existing shots, add text and music, and export the formats — enough for a simple announcement if you already have footage. They do not shoot, light anything or clear any rights: music whose licence does not cover advertising use stays a legal risk, even if the tool was free.

How long should an advertising video be?

It depends entirely on the medium. What is constant is that the decision to keep watching is made in the very first seconds, often with no sound. That is why the hook is written before the rest of the film.

How much does an advertising video cost in Morocco?

At EL 25 Studio Production, a film ranges from about 15,000 to 300,000 Moroccan dirhams depending on the setup: number of days and locations, crew size, staging, technical resources and level of finish. A short spot can cost more than a long film if the staging calls for it — the final length is not what sets the price.

Do you need a permit to shoot an advertisement in Morocco?

Depending on the location, yes. Public spaces, industrial sites and government premises require permits that are prepared in advance. The site's guide to filming permits in Morocco details which ones and from whom.

What is a recent example of an advertising video produced in Casablanca?

The D-CAP anti-dandruff spot with Mouna Fettou, for the Dermalliance laboratories: a futuristic concept written with the brand and shot in Casablanca by EL 25 Studio Production. The campaign runs on a circuit of 20 LED screens at Casablanca's main junctions and is relayed in the national press.
